Our Conclusion
It’s a pretty exciting time for The North Face® as they team up with Supreme® to bring out their new fall collection for 2021. This exciting new Summit Series collection features everything from jackets, fleeces, parkas, hooded sweatshirts, pants, t-shirts, headbands, and backpacks. One of these backpacks includes the Supreme X The North Face Outer Tape Route Rocket backpack.

Selling out fast and gathering speed with loyal Supreme and North Face fans, you’ll have to work hard to track this bad boy down. But, featuring lots of organizational features, a spacious interior and 420D Shredstop™ Nylon, it’s no surprise.

Finding a color to suit your personality is easy with a technical pack that comes in three colors. The color black is a perfect choice for those who like to keep things minimal, Khaki green for those who like more earthy tones, and popping pink for those who want to stand out.

When I spend a lot on a travel pack, I need a backpack that’s versatile enough to suit a wide variety of occasions. This versatility is exactly what you get with the Supreme X North Face Outer Tape Route Rocket backpack, as it boasts plenty of organizational features.

If you’re after a pack for commuting, the Route Rocket is a perfect choice due to the main zip compartment, which features a single layer laptop sleeve.

In addition, making sure you have all the room you need to store your essentials, no matter the kind of trip you’re on, is easy with the main interior compartment designed to be spacious. This extra room makes it easy to store all your go-to items, like your phone, wallet, snacks, and jacket.

Keeping your smaller gear separated is easy with an interior zip pocket, interior Velcro tab, and an additional front zip pocket. These organizational features make this pack perfectly suited to all-day hiking, sightseeing, or commuting.

Although I like a side zip opening to reach items that have slipped to the bottom quickly, this Supreme North Face backpack makes use of a top zip fastening to access your gear. This type of fastening is standard in the backpacking industry and not a huge deal. So, I think it’s just personal preference.

Using naturally water-resistant materials for the Outer Tape Route Rocket backpack means this pack is suited to most weather conditions. So rain, sun, or shine, you’ll be fine.

However, it’s not a fully waterproof backpack, so I wouldn’t recommend using this pack in expected torrential rain, especially if you’re carrying your laptop.

Comfort

Supreme X and The North Face aren’t known for making uncomfortable products, and the Outer Tape Route Rocket backpack is no different. Firstly, the adjustable shoulder straps allow the wearer to achieve a customized fit, resulting in a higher comfort level.

Extra straps across the hip belt and chest also help you get a most stable, comfortable fit for days when you’ve packed a bit heavy. Finally, its medium size won’t allow you to overpack, causing you to carry an uncomfortably heavy pack.

Materials

Supreme X and The North Face have wisely chosen to use water-resistant and highly durable material for the Outer Tape Route Rocket backpack.

This material comes in the form of 100% 420D Shredstop™ nylon. Apart from its ability to be woven, Nylon is a popular choice for bags because it’s strong, durable, abrasion and temperature resistant.

Durability

As mentioned above, the choice of Nylon for this everyday pack is perfect because of its naturally durable and hard-wearing materials. Although the whole Summit Series focuses on resistance to the elements and wear, the Supreme X The North Face Outer Tape Route Rocket backpack features long-lasting 420D Shredstop™ Nylon.

The pack itself is exceptionally well constructed and gives the appearance of high quality, which is what you’d expect from a top of the range pack.
Comparison to Similar Backpacks
Another excellent option includes the Osprey Farpoint 40. As their lightest travel, carry-on backpack, the Farpoint 40 is perfect for land, sea, and air travel and hugely popular among backpackers.

Although the zip-away spacer mesh ventilated backpanel allows a comfortable backpack style, this pack can be packed like a suitcase. This pack is vitally robust and durable, with a supportive back system that will enable you to carry your gear more comfortably, no matter your location.

What’s more, this pack comes with several organizational pockets, including a padded laptop sleeve on the inner front panel. Also featuring durable 210D Mini Hex Diamond Ripstop Nylon fabric means this pack is versatile and durable, like the Route Rocket.

However, the laptop sleeve could be better positioned, and the main compartment could make better use of the storage space for better organization.
Verdict
Although it comes at a premium price, the latest offering between Supreme X and the North Face’s Summit series is nothing but spectacular.

As part of a line of extreme cold-weather clothing in high alpine conditions, the Supreme X The North Face Outer Tape Route Rocket backpack is exceptionally well-made for alpine conditions, hiking, commuting, travel, and everyday use.

As a stylish pack offering many exceptional features, durability, water resistance, and comfort, it’s a top choice among backpackers worldwide.
