This is a real nifty portable Bluetooth speaker for taking with you on any outdoor experience. It's ideal for camping/backpacking and the fact it is water-resistant means you can even take it waterside without the worry that it might get damaged.

The LG XBOOM Go PL7 is a small speaker so it may not be ideal for a busier environment as the volume is one of the drawbacks. Whether it is in the house to avoid playing music through your phone whilst you get on with other things, or outside whilst you have a BBQ and catch up with friends, the LG XBOOM Go PL7 is worth having.

Performance

The LG XBOOM Go PL7 is a good performer; the rubberized finish means it is easy to hold and carry. It has wireless Bluetooth control adding ease when using this speaker, so you can manage everything from the app on your phone. It features a speakerphone option meaning it can also be used to turn your group gathering into a group chat, even if you’re friends are on the other side of the world.

The long-lasting battery life and benefit of being able to charge through USB means it is unlikely this speaker will let you down unless you play it continuously.

Another further advantage of the LG PL7 is the ability to activate Google Assistant on your Android phone or Siri on your iPhone through pressing the play button and speaking into the speaker.

Reliability

For a smaller speaker, the LG PL7 is reliable. Compared to other speakers on the market, the battery life is a plus and much better than most. It also boasts the option of charging via USB.

Portability

Small, compact, and robust. This speaker is brilliant for carrying about, it isn't the lightest speaker on the market but at 3.2lbs, it's not going to be a problem to pop it in your hiking backpack if you’re taking it on an adventure. Likewise, if this gizmo is going to be for indoor use, then it’s easy to move around the house.

Wireless adds great ease to transporting the speaker from one place to another without having to worry about pesky wires that get tangled in just about anything.

Suitability

If you’ve got this far, then you know this model is suitable for anyone and anywhere. It’s waterproof, it’s compact, it’s wireless - all features that are a must when looking at a Bluetooth speaker. The only thing I would say it is slightly on the quieter side when it comes to volume so, a building site may be a bit too overpowering for this little contraption.

If you have young children this is a great speaker, it won’t damage easily due to the sturdy exterior, so you needn’t worry about little hands breaking it.

And if you’re like me and tend to drop things then, again, this speaker will suit you thanks to its rubberized finish.

LG is a world-renowned manufacturer, so quality is expected and with this speaker, you do get that. They have considered the design to compliment the different uses this speaker has.

A similar speaker to the LG PL7 is the JBL Flip 5. It is a lot cheaper than the LG speaker, however, the battery life is only 12 hours and the finish of fabric and rubber makes me wonder whether it would withstand the outdoors as well as the LG would.

Another option you might want to look at is the BOSE Sound Link Revolve (Series II), this speaker would be the ultimate portable speaker but comes with a nice price tag to go with it.

Overall, the LG XBOOM Go PL7 is a great little speaker. The multicolor lighting just adds mood when you're listening so you can get transported into that zone that you are looking for. With the capacity to wirelessly link up to other LG XBOOM Go PL7 speakers, you can get more use and more fun from your speaker.
