Value
If you are in the market to buy some new cookware, you have probably already set aside a little bit of money because you know that it doesn’t run cheap. However, you might be pleasantly surprised to discover that not all of the ceramic cookware sets are outrageously expensive; some are quite affordable. When selecting the best products, we tried to keep the price tag down as low as we could without sacrificing the quality of the product. Even some of the more expensive sets on our list may surprise you on just how affordable they actually are.
Durability
Durability is the most important concept to keep in mind when looking for cookware. After moving out of your parent’s house, you most likely took a set of your mom’s old pots and pans in the 70’s mustard yellow with the green and orange flowers on the side, and they are probably still the same pots you are using today. Shopping for new cookware is never something anyone wants to do, so when you set out to buy a new set, you want to know that it will be the set of pots and pans you will be handing down to your children when they eventually leave the nest. That’s why we tried to really nail down which sets were designed to survive.
Features
Products that come with bonus items are like the icing on the cake. If a cookware set comes with an additional set of serving spoons, or a strainer to make cooking pasta easier, it immediately caught our attention. Some of the products on this list can’t take metal utensils on the surface, so the company will throw in a set of wooden spoons and spatulas to ensure that you take good care of your new set of pots and pans. It’s human nature to be drawn it to products that throw in free gifts, so we selected brands that were liberal with extra kitchen toys.
Versatility
To cook a great steak, you first need to sear the outside of the meat in a hot pan with a little bit of butter. Once it is seared on all sides, you need to pop that pan into the oven to ensure that it is cooked evenly through. If you don’t have a pan that is able to withstand the temperature of the oven, then you don’t have a pan that is very versatile. We made sure to find pans that were able to seamlessly transition from the stovetop to the oven without skipping a beat. Some models, however, cover their handles with a layer of silicon which makes them cool to the touch when cooking. This is great when you need to work with multiple pans and don’t want to wear oven mitts, but it is not so great when you want to throw a pan into the oven. Some brands of pans have the silicone grips, yet they were still able to withstand oven temperatures up to 350 degrees.
