Your backyard is most likely the place you go to feel calm and at peace after a long and crazy week, so it is important that where you sit down looks good. We tried to select pieces that had a simple design to prevent them from looking too dated down the line. These pieces are incredibly resilient, and you probably won’t be updating them any time soon (although you might replace the cushions after a few seasons). It was important to us that we selecting something that was had a basic design, and one that was easily painted if you ever want to change up the color scheme of your patio.
Durability
That the thing about patio gear- it is going to continue to stay outside even during the wither. Most users don’t have the desire or the storage space to drag all of the pieces on their patio into the garage or storage shed for the winter, so they just leave it out there to collect snow and ice. We were drawn to pieces that were made out of aluminum frames (that were lightweight yet durable), and resin wicker exterior that is basically indestructible to ice and cold. Metal or wood designs are also good, but over time they can look incredibly worn, are difficult to clean, and the paint will often peel off over time. Wicker, on the other hand, will continue to look like new season after season. If you are looking for something to last you for the long haul, wicker is the best way to go.

Prices for these products are a little all over the map. Some brands will set you back the same amount of money it probably cost you to build your actual deck, and others will hardly make a dent in your wallet. We tried to keep our price ranges within the realm of reason, because you don’t want to blow your entire summer budget on chairs and sofas, and not have enough money left to throw a party to have everyone enjoy it.
Comfort
If it isn’t comfortable, no one will want to sit in it. And if no one wants to sit in it, then it is nothing but an expensive and oversize patio decoration. We made sure to keep in eye on the materials that the cushions were made out of, and if past users found them to be comfortable. One of the things that people really seemed to appreciate were models that had high backs. Many of the sectional pieces out there have lower backs without that much cushion, so we tried to find models that made higher backs that were more comfortable.

Some find that the height is not ideal- it will not support your upper back unless you slink down a bit. The cushions are held down by velcro, so you won’t have to worry about them scooting around as people get up and move around. Durability
The weight of the entire unit, including the table, weigh in at 170 pounds. That may seem heavy, but when each seat is able to be detached, it makes them far easier to move. The weight of the combined unit is great for when the winds begin to pick up on those windy spring days, or during a summer thunderstorm. The cushions for the back seats were improved on the newer models to be taller (they were 15 inches and in 2017 they started making them 17 inches tall). When you need to clean the cushions, simply unzip the fabric from the cushions and toss them into the washing machine.

With this set, you get all of the seating features of a great patio set without the price tag that might make you sweat a little bit. It’s still not the most affordable design on the market, but it runs about the average cost of what consumers typically spend on a patio set.
