Swim, run, bike, swim, run, bike, swim, run, bike. Training for a triathlon is a feat in itself! Whether you’re a veteran or a first-timer, searching for the perfect tri-suit can be difficult and time-consuming. You’ll want to look for a suit that is comfortable, makes you feel confident, and dries quickly. Between work and training, you may not have the energy nor time to research and find the best available suits on the market. Go ahead and relax for a bit, we have made it easy for you and compiled a great list right here.
This is the best product on our list that is currently in stock:
Pad cushions, yet dries fast and doesn’t hinder
Top 10 Picks
Flatlock stitching and large armholes for greatly reduced chafing
Maintains size and shape race after race
Minor issues with the zipper
Triathletes are always concerned about chafing; between running, biking, and swimming you’re body temperature and moisture level vary greatly. If a tri suit isn’t designed properly, rubbing and irritation will inevitably occur. This can affect your overall race time for a number of reasons. Syngergy knows this, and has designed a suit that fits like a glove! It has a great amount of compression without cutting off your blood circulation. Large armholes and leg grippers that don’t creep up help to make this suit nearly perfect in every way!Read more
Soft-bias, non-chafing collar, but won’t billow out while swimming; semi-lock zip; S-lite lycra for moisture management; extra long zipper; modesty panel, keep your privates private; flatlock stitching; non-silicone leg gripper, won’t creep up the leg; extra-wide armholes help to prevent chafing; UPF 50+ UV protection, protect yourself from the elements; colorfast sublimation will not fade or wash out, clean with confidence; two mesh pockets located in the back; high-performance poly spandex lycra, mold to your body without suffocating it!
This suit is made from an aquaphobic material, high-performance poly spandex lycra, that helps to trap in body heat in your upper body while swimming, and dries off quickly and helps to keep you warm once you exit the water. Includes a NeoGel pad with anti-microbial fleece to help cushion and maintain hygiene while biking. This suit can be used many times and will keep its color and fit.
As stated above, the poly spandex lycra really makes the difference while swimming. It does a marginal job of keeping you warmer than normal while swimming, however, once out of the water you will notice a big difference; you’ll dry fast and stay warm until you do! The NeoGel pad helps to improve the biking side of the race, without being big and bulky while running or swimming. The grippers effectively keep the legs of the suit from sliding or riding up your thighs so you won’t have to worry about constantly fidgeting with them! The zipper has caused problems with a few consumers, but simply unzipping the top even a little helps to reduce any problems. This suit not only does one or two or the aspects of this sport well, but it also crashes all three in functionality!
This suit is comfortable! Customers love it. At first, it may be tricky to properly size yourself- that’s going to be the problem with any tri suit though- but once you do, it’ll fit you like a glove! Read Amazon reviews, many consumers post their physical size, weight, and purchase size and this can help you get the right size product the first time around. Large arm holes and leg grippers that work help to secure this product in first place for our list!
Tri suits can run upwards of hundreds of dollars, and they may not even deliver on all three aspects of the sport well. Synergy delivers with comfort, fit, functionality, and they do it at a price that is reasonable for any budget.
Synergy is a company that was founded by a collection of triathletes back in the 1990s but was put on hold from any further development until the late 2000s. Synergy’s story, however, starts back in the 1980s when a young boy sadly discovered he was bad at nearly every sport he did. Committed to not giving up he dedicated himself to training, hard, to be better- his own personal best. Having been part of the competition- and now in the business of the sport- for many years, Synergy is a name you can trust when it comes to triathlons!

The quality of the material is good, it is made with quality stitching. Comes in three color schemes so you can personalize at will. Some seam issues may arise around the shoulders after a few uses.
Comfortable fit. Many consumers bought this and then jumped in it and were off to their first race. No need to break it in, it was born for your heavily active lifestyle! This suit is as rugged as you and can stand up to the demands that you make.
This suit can be towards the pricier end of the bracket- but Amazon is still spoiling us with lower prices than anywhere else on the web. This may be a suit that beginners can wear, but this is the suit that the veterans turn to.
Pearl iZumi does both guys and girls suits well. Sometimes that isn’t the case, but when it does happen, you have to think that the company truly knows what they are doing, right? We think so. Pearl iZumi deserves to be up here twice, as we said just because they do women’s suits well doesn’t mean that they understand the unique requests of men’s bodies- however, in this case, they do! Give Pearl iZumi a chance and you’ll be shopping with them again in the future.

The intelligently designed slight pad helps soften the biking experience without hindering you in the rest of the race. Both the pad and the material were both as fast drying as they say it is. Unmatched moisture management. Designed to keep you comfy while looking cute- you’ll LOVE the color, style, and coverage of this appealing triathlon suit. Long legs prevent chaffing on the run plus soft grippers keep the legs in place without the feeling of “sausage legs”. And remember it’s BYOB (Bring Your Own Bra).
Made of a super-comfortable nylon/spandex mix, your SLS3 Tri-Suit wicks sweat away from your body and throughout the material, then evaporates it quickly, to help keep you cool and dry. The material is thinner on this product so there isn’t much compression, maybe that’s what you’re looking for? Consumers were very happy with the quality of this product.
It fits well, other than the abovementioned complaint of slight sag in the neckline of the suit, it fits well. It also dries quickly, both the pad and the overall fabric. The part that is likely to stay wet the longest is the sports bra underneath, so make sure to buy one that is as good at sweat wicking as the suit you’ll be wearing over it.
Consumers found that this suit transitioned well from one event to the next in the sport. However. the front did pull down a little bit while swimming but if you are wearing a sports bra it won’t expose anything. Drag might be your main concern there, but it doesn’t create a drag so you don’t have to worry about it slowing down your motions in the water. Overall functions well.
German made craftsmanship at an affordable price. Consumers had very few negative things to say about this product. If you are looking to get more serious with your race times, this is the suit for you. Not nearly as expensive as some of the top made products out there, this one is a great buy for the quality and price. SLS3 will win you over as they have us!
We love this company. It wasn’t biased, they just won us over while researching tri suits, it was an honest battle and SLS3 came out as our favorite brand! Buy this suit and you will be falling in love with it just as the two triathlete founders fell for each other back in 2004. This brand started because of love- love of the sport and love for each other- and their products all reveal how much love goes into each and every product. As a company they started small; they were more concerned about quality over quantity. Better products, not more. Once they mastered one product only then did they move onto conquer new heights. This is a newer company but it is still growing today!
6. Sparx Italian
4 unobtrusive pockets
Ideal for beginners
The Sparx Mens Tri suit is pleasantly surprising given the price range. It’s commonly accepted that specialized sports can be expensive to get into- and certainly that can be the case- but this suit is here to prove otherwise. It comes in a few color options that allow for some personal expression while giving you the cover and mobility that you need.Read more
Designed to follow the body lines of a cyclist while assisting in all aspects of the triathlon; Flatlock stitching helps to reduce abrasion irritation; Contoured paneling for a more personalized shape; Front 14" zipper for ease of donning on or off; Microsensor mesh back allows for great ventilation; 6mm CoolMax Pad; 2 Rear pocket & 2 side pockets Storage for all race essentials.
Something unusual about this suit is the two leg pockets that come designed into it. Many consumers found that they appreciated these pockets. Silicone leg grippers keep the legs in place but once they get stretched out it is hard for them to return to their original tightness. As with many tri suits, the zipper is the biggest problem, the only complaints people had of this suit were about the zipper.
Breathable, 220 GSM (grams per square meter), quick-dry Lycra fabric does just what you want it to- it wicks moisture away from the body and keeps you cool and dry your entire race. Not the highest quality material on the market. The colored mesh is see-through and may reveal more than you are willing to show.
This suit has four-way elasticity reducing muscle vibrations and nylon fibers added for durability, this suit is meant to weather it all with you. Consumers found this fit as you expect it to.
This tri suit is not made from the highest quality material, but given the price, it is a great deal. Still getting used to triathlons this is a good beginner suit to help break you in. If you are a pro, or even someone that is no newbie, this product is probably not the one you want even for training.
Pros are likely to want to keep shopping beyond this product, but if you are still testing out the waters of triathlons… okay, didn’t mean to be ‘punny’- let’s try again- if you are still testing to see if triathlons are for you but you want to give it an honest go, look no further. Sparx has successfully designed a suit that is good for the beginner triathletes body and budget. Both were taken into consideration when designing this gem.
7. Spotti Skinsuit
Great for beginners
Not designed for pros
Some reviewers claim the pad doesn't fit quite right

The foam pad may be a bit big, but it does dry fairly fast so it doesn’t impede things too much. Great for a few races if you are still training or only have time for a handful a year; but if you are going to be doing a heavy amount of triathlons this can be a decent (and cheap) option for training. The silicone leg grippers hold but don’t pull leg hair, which means you don’t have to shave if you don’t want to. The size runs a little large on this one so make sure to consult other consumers reviews before choosing a size. It should be noted that it can be revealing when coming right out of the water, triathletes aren’t known for their modesty though. Comfortable fit overall!
This is as cheap as it goes! Great option for beginners and those wanting a reliable training suit. Includes a 90-day warranty, buy with confidence. Consumers liked this product so much that there are no low rated stars on Amazon! If you are just starting you shouldn’t look any further for your next purchase.

Feel good running in this suit because it is comfortable, but also know that you are having a positive impact on the world while you do it!
Criteria Used for Evaluation
The features may be the most important aspect of a tri suit. Some suits feature mesh areas that will help to control your temperature and provide more breathability. Switching between all three sports of a triathlon can is tough, no doubt about it, and the more comfortable you are, the better you will perform. But what if you get hungry during the race? A few of the suits on our list also feature pockets. These are great for energy bars or even a good luck charm.
Another great feature that many suits feature is a cushioned pad for the bike riding portion. Hopefully, your bike has a decent seat, but you will perform better if you are more comfortable and can focus directly on the race and not on discomfort.
Last, but not least, we also looked into the zipper system of the suit. We thought it was important to note how easy it is to get in and out of each suit. The suits that feature full-length zippers are preferable to most.
What kind of fabric or material is the suit made out of? There are a wide array of fabrics that could be used for the job, but what kinds are you looking for? Quick drying material is going to be the winner when it comes to main aspects of what the fabric does as chafing will inevitably occur if you don’t invest in material that not only dries rapidly- but can also wick sweat from the body too. How well does the particular material stand up to consumers? Is it as good as they say it is, or have they oversold their product? This is where public opinion and online reviews start to play a part.
Comfort is no small issue when it comes to finding a suit that will help you compete at your very best. Whether the arms chafe or not can make all the difference in your time while swimming- and dealing with the consequences later. Can the legs stay in place once fully donned, or are they known to creep up your thigh as you run causing hassle and struggle that slows you down? Pads aren’t a word that guys are used to hearing about when talking about clothing options, but any cyclist will know that you want a pad that offers cushioning and support without compromising drag while swimming. As we said comfort is a big deal, other consumers can be a big help when it comes to buying the right product.
This is the sum of all the metrics calculated against the price of the product. It’s hard to tell whether any specific purchase is a good deal or not without knowing what you are getting with your purchase. Value is where all of the metrics are tallied up and then compared to the price to give you the overall opinion on the individual product. It's hard to say if this suit will be a one-time use or if you will fall in love with the sport and continue to compete. Either way, you don't want to invest in something that isn't going to last. These are Top 10 Lists though, so all of the products are already considered the best, we just help break it down, even more, to give you only the best of the best.
Expert Interviews & Opinions
For women, you don't want to forget to look into the support of the suit. Running and biking can be uncomfortable without the proper support and that's the last hindrance you need when completing a triathlon. Additionally, if a suit comes with a sports bra, you can always strip down at the end of a race to cool down quicker!
For the swimming part of the race, you may want to invest in a wetsuit. A wetsuit will help you ease into the cold waters, create more buoyancy, and help you to glide through the water faster. The only downside to a wetsuit is spending precious seconds after the swimming portion to take it off. If you are just competing for fun and personal goals, the times won't be as important.
Other Factors to Consider
How well does the suit perform? Maybe it’s designed by a biking company so it is more proficient in cycling? Maybe the company started off tailoring towards swimming so you will just glide along in the water but be bogged down while running? Having a Tri Suit you can trust means that it doesn’t just perform well in one arena but in all three. Transition time can be the difference between winning a race and coming in after the tenth place is already taken. Ain’t nobody got time for that- seriously, slim back your times by purchasing a suit that can do everything that a triathlon demands of it.
Frequently Asked Questions
q: Are tri suits worth it?
You absolutely don’t need a tri suit in order to compete in a TRI- they are just a handy piece of gear that can help shave back transition times. There maybe triathlons with wetsuit regulations, but what you wear the rest of the time is up to you. Don’t feel like you have to buy all the newest and best gear right away, give it a try first. For many people, they are worth it for the comfort and ease of use.
q: Does chlorine affect the color of the suits?
Chlorine can affect your tri-suit, depending on the materials. Most suits contain a good amount of elastane, keeping them tight and stretchy. Unfortunately, elastane and chlorine do not mix well. The chlorine will break down the elastane material eventually, with extended use.
A better material to use in the pool would be something like lycra. Using your tri suit in the pool a couple of times won't hurt it, but more than that is not advised. Another alternative, other than using a different suit while training in a chlorinated pool, is to find a salt-water pool to practice in. After training in a salt water pool, make sure to rinse out the suit and hang to dry naturally.
q: How can I prevent chafing?
A triathletes worst nightmare, chafing. There are several ways to avoid this during your race.
The most popular and well-known way to avoid chafing during your race is to use a body-glide product. Body glide is a lubricant that can be applied to any area of your body such as your armpits, inner thighs, inbetween your sports bra and your skin, or biceps.
Other than this, there are a few other ways to avoid chafing as well. If you plan to shave before the race, shave in the same direction that the hair grows. You will want to take every measure you can to avoid razor burn or ingrown hairs. Also, before getting dressed, even if you don't feel wet, dry off your body with a towel. And lastly, make sure that your tri-suit features moisture wicking material that will dry quickly and nip chafing in the butt before it happens.
q: Are the suits machine washable?
For the most part, no. It is best to handle these materials gently, hand wash them, and air dry. The specialized materials that make up these suits are typically moisture wicking and quick drying. Putting them in the washing machine may break down the fibers over time and cause the suit to not function as well. If you are in a hurry and have no option, perhaps a quick and delicate cycle in the washing machine will be okay, but definitely do not put it in the dryer.
q: Will tri suits keep you warm?
Don't count on it. Some suits feature materials that won't feel cold after being wet, but remember the style of the suit. Your arms and legs are exposed. A tri-suit that only covers the middle of your body won't do much to keep you warm.
